By Nathaniel E. Baker • Sep 25th, 2009 • Category: Also NotedThe extent of Jacob Peterson‘s injury is worse than anticipated, as the Rapids midfielder has torn his ACL and will need to undergo surgery, according to an individual familiar with the matter. Peterson injured his knee in the 12th minute of Wednesday’s game with the San Jose Earthquakes (pictured at left being helped off the pitch) and was replaced by Pat Noonan. Major League Soccer’s official report said the extent of Peterson’s injury was not yet known, but that he was unlikely to be available for the team’s Saturday game in Kansas City.
He’ll be unavailable all right. For four- to six months, according to ASN’s source. Peterson will undergo surgery next week.
